Job Shadowing

For my project, I job shadowed a friend of the family, Scott Bragg. He is a photographer, and has his own company, Dreamland Visions. Once I arrived, we began setting up the studio, and he taught me some about lighting and backdrops. Soon our models, Lisa and Laurel, arrived. Laurel was also our makeup artist.

Laurel and Lisa are both part of a dance troupe called Full Radius. Lisa had just recently joined the troupe, so they needed some photos of her for their website. This was our first set of photos. We started with taking some headshots of Lisa. After that, we switched to taking photos of Laurel and Lisa dancing together.

The next set of photos was one that we were not doing in the studio. Scott and I scouted out a good location for the next set while Lisa changed outfits and Laurel did her makeup. We managed to find a nice location in the same building as the studio. Since the area was a bit dark, we set up some lights there, and adjusted the settings on our cameras. Scott also taught me more about the settings for my camera and lighting. Once Laurel and Lisa were ready, we all headed to the location that Scott and I had found. For this photoshoot, Lisa wore a gothic outfit, and our location was in front of an area of old wall in the historical building. I think that this set was my favorite.

After the gothic set, we returned to the studio and prepared for a set that had a more Indian feel to it. Once we were all ready for the shoot, Lisa belly danced as we photographed her. This was our last set for the day. After that, Scott explained model releases to me. We filled out the ones that we needed for that day's photos, and then he gave me some blank model release forms, for future use.
