My latest piece done in oil pastels.

Something similar to what I saw the first time I experienced synesthesia. The dots were very difficult for me to draw, because they were ever-changing, always shifting… and they were plain dull grey, iridecent, many-colored, patterned, and many other things all at the same time. They shifted so quickly… after experimenting with making noises, popping my ears, etc., I found that them shifting related to what I heard.
My favorite one of the dots is the marbled one… it’s kinda grey and white swirly. That one took the longest to draw, and involved more color blending and shading than the others.
I might do some more synesthesia drawings later, I’m not sure.
Note: a tiny bit of the right side was chopped off due to the paper being larger than my scanner.

Q: How were you able to see through these dots?
A: They were see through, I just didn’t do that with this piece because I had trouble getting that effect while still having the patterns in the various dots. I did, however, sketch a living room in pencil as the first thing I did, and then I drew the dots over it in oil pastels.

I liked being able to see the room past the dots. As you get better tools, perhaps you’ll be better able to show us what you experience Thank you for sharing this.
hello, my name is sean and im a 3rd year graphic design degree student from England. I am doing a project on synesthesia, and i would really like to talk to someone who has this before begging to create visuals or imagary concerning synesthesia. This is a 100% genuine project idea, it is not intended to make light of the situation or ridicule it in any way, i have a real interest in understanding what it is and trying to create representational pictures of the disorder. If you don’t mind, i would love for you to answer a few questions for me either via email or telephone, so i can document some first hand experiences. I would be very greatful for any feedback, even if you are not interested. thankyou so much for your time, i look forward to hearing from you.

I don’t think this si synesthesia because it doesn’t match many descriptions of the things that I feel and imagine, more of connecting colors with emotion, places, objects and touches and vis-versa, but it’s mostly with sounds and places with the colors in them. Sorry, that sounds a bit scatterbrained. Example: Lavender: candles lone at night, soft tears and comforting rain, not harsh, steady soft patterings, hidden like a cascade, peacefulness, not the same as bliss, but like disappearing, being burried in your imaginary world where everything is perfect. Cool warmth, soothing, like a smooth pebble. Th cosest I can connect this with synesthesia is seeing personalities. Like I see things with colors, and some sounds. Not really see, but those things I connnect it with fill me. I am an artist and a poet, so I might just be crazy, but whatever.
